Our Summer...

Hope everyone is having a good summer! We are having fun...mostly just staying home and playing in the backyard. It's not so easy to get out with a 3 month old!! Nathan just had a birthday and Hannah LOVED helping make cupcakes for his birthday. (actually I think she liked eating the batter more!) I took Nathan to a braves game for his birthday(without kids)... We had a great time except for the fact that we lost to the Red Sox :( July 4th was fun too except of course I forgot to take pictures of them in their cute red, white and blue outfits! Hopefully next summer we will get to spend more time at some pools!

I am not actually sure if Faith was having as much fun as Hannah!!!

Wedding Weekend

I had the privilege of being in one of my best friend's weddings this weekend. My friend Amy Parker, who I met when my mom and I moved to Hungary, was married this past weekend. We had a great time getting to see several old friends from Hungary and I got to introduce several people to Nathan who were great friends of mine.

We traveled to Alabama with both kids and they did surprisingly well for the 2 1/2 hr car ride. We only had one minor peeing in the car seat accident when there was NO gas station anywhere in the middle of Alabama and poor Hannah had to go potty!! I should add here that we were not alone. My mom and Jeff (anya and papa) came along to go to the wedding and also to be the babysitters for the whole weekend. I have to say that if I hadn't had them there the weekend would NOT have gone so well. They were a HUGE help. I enjoyed a bridal luncheon and a pedicure and Nathan and I were able to enjoy the rehearsal dinner without children. They were wonderful during the wedding and didn't even make a sound...

What a beautiful reminder it was to see a Christian wedding and to be reminded of how marriage is to give us a visible representation of Christ and the church and not just for temporal pleasure while here on earth. I was reminded of how we are to strive to make sure our marriage is a beautiful representation of this truth and not to misrepresent Christ in our marriage. Ephesians 5: 22-33 was used in their ceremony and I think sums it up well....

"Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands. Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, because we are members of his body. “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church. May 6th was my 24th birthday... Birthdays just aren't as fun anymore as you get older I am figuring out. I had a great day. Nathan and Hannah woke me up with breakfast in bed and then Nathan also took care of doing dinner that evening. What a sweet husband I have! Since we couldn't go out without the kids on my birthday, we went out a couple nights later (just the 2 of us) and he took me to a wonderful dinner at Aspens steakhouse and for a stroll around the Avenue at West Cobb. We had a great time on our first date alone without the 2 kids. Well, Rylee is now 5 weeks old and growing SO fast. His big sister takes care of him constantly. Hannah is potty training right now and doing SO good. I wasn't even planning on potty training her and she just wanted to go a couple of times in her potty and then I was like "oh great" I need to keep letting her go if she wants to... so it happened. I had to keep being consistent. Of course I am sure the M & M's as a prize have helped her to be consistent too :)

It's a Boy!!

We are proud to announce the birth of our baby boy, Rylee Chander White, born April 7th, weighing in at 9lbs and 3ounces. Baby and mother are doing wonderful!

Concerning Rylee's name:

Rylee is named after the great Anglican Bishop, JC Ryle. By God's providence I (Nathan) came across JC Ryle's book Holiness as a young Christian. The book had a profound impact on me, the first reading still impacting my thinking and understanding of Christianity even today, and it has become a well-worn manual that I have returned to time and time again.

Courtney also, at my urging, has become quite the Ryle fan as well. She greatly admires his practicality and easy-to-read writing style. I would strongly encourage you to familiarize yourself with Ryle if you've never read him before. Start with his best work, Holiness, and move on to his commentaries on the gospels, Knotts Untied, etc., which are also excellent.

Rylee's middle name, Chandler, is after my Dad, Chandler White. Rylee and my dad share the same birthday (April 7th of course), and nobody has had a greater impact on my life than my wonderful father. From the earliest of my memory, my father was reading scripture to me, encouraging me to memorize and internalize it, praying/singing with me, and basing all of his instruction and counsel upon the principles found in the sacred text.

I am blessed and honored to have such a God-fearing father, and it is certainly our desire that Rylee follow after these two faithful men in faith and in practice.

God is so incredibly good --it absolutely baffles me because of the depths of my sin and wickedness. Join me in singing this great Psalm of praise:

STILL PREGNANT!!

Well it is officially 5 days past my due date and I am still pregnant. I did expect as much but hoped it would different this time!! Oh well, I am learning about being patient :) (or trying to learn anyway) Nathan's mom and sister and all her boys are here and have already been here 2 weeks waiting for me to have a baby! Hopefully soon we will have some newborn pictures to post!! Check back....

Ok...so her real birthday is on March 2nd. But today was her birthday party!! She had such a blast. She wanted a curious george birthday party because she LOVES curious george. We decided to go with a big yellow hat (because of the "man with the yellow hat") for the cake instead of a george cake. Apparently they don't actually make a 3d curious george cake pan. crazy! And we do have Anya to thank for the wonderful cake and cupcakes. I don't think her mommy could have done such a good job at 36 weeks pregnant! It would have been a box cake :) Well, she had a wonderful day and she was very spoiled by her friends and family. Here are a few pictures. My dad took all the good pictures so I just realized we don't have very many on our camera! Here are a few that we have....

Hannah's Big Girl Bed!

Nathan put together Hannah's big girl bed today!! I can't believe she is already old enough to sleep in a big bed. Time flies by so fast! She has been very excited about getting a big bed. Tonight she told me "No more crib"! Here are some pictures of her new bed . Enjoy!!!

Our Summer!

Well, here is our whole summer in one post!! Sorry! No wonder I hate posting ... I try to post like 3 months at once and it takes FOREVER!!! I will try to be better. Ok... maybe :) So I have started from where I left off. Since I posted last we have been to Oklahoma for my grandparents 50th anniversary reunion, then onto Colorado to visit family, then we have some pictures from the zoo (we went with Brittany and Ella), and then for July 4th we went to see my grandparents and visit my Dad and stayed in my grandparents new home on the lake! We have been so busy and I have managed to download A LOT of pictures from our whole summer so far. ENJOY

Today was my first 5K!! We had SO much fun. Well, I say that after the fact. If you had asked me during I probably would have told you differently... :) Here are some pictures. Enjoy!

Court's Birthday

May 6th was my birthday, so Nathan took Hannah and I to Callaway Gardens on the prior Saturday for a fun and relaxing day. We had a great time and got lots of great pictures. That night we left Hannah with her Anya and Papa and Nathan took me out to a really nice dinner at Canoe on the Chattahoochee River. We had such a great day and here are some pictures we took. Weekend with Family and Friends

Last week my sister Tiffany, her husband Josiah, and one of their 5 boys, Laz, flew in from Denver to spend the weekend with us. We drove up to Washington, GA and spent some time with a sweet family, John and Noel, and really had a great time getting away (we stayed in an old farmhouse on 250 acres). (and she says "duck" all the time too) We had such a great time! Of course she was spoiled by all her family and friends... Hannah is Walking!

Well, tomorrow all the family is coming over for Hannah's 1year birthday party, but before we get to that, we wanted to share with you some of her first steps.

Hannah started taking her first steps in the early part of February --FEBRUARY! Almost a full month before she turned one! This has changed things quite a bit around the Georgia White House!

Here is a short clip we shot on our camera of Hannah walking. This was taken on Valentine's Day, when Hannah just decided to start taking LOTS of steps on her own. Check it out!

Yes, it has been two months since our last post, but what else is new?? We have lots of cute pictures to share, and they will make their way out eventually.

Today, I'm posting a short video clip that we recorded a few days ago. Hannah has learned a few new 'tricks', and here is the latest one! I sat down with Hannah and taught her how to 'gimme five' in less than 5 minutes. I am amazed at how smart she is at so young (almost 10months), and how quickly she is learning/maturing. Also, given how she is standing up and moving around, she will probably be walking in just a short time. Now THAT is scary!

It has certainly been a long time between posts. The summer has been busy busy! Shortly, we will post some pictures from our wonderful trip to Colorado, but before we get to that, today I'm going to post a few from late July --pictures that we just had to share. Enjoy!

My birthday was May 6. I turned 22! I feel old now :) I had a great birthday this year. My mom had a brunch for me with several of my girlfriends. Then I was able to go shopping ALL day with my friend Leslie at the outlets! Nathan took me out to Carabbas for a nice dinner...YUMMY! Here are some pics from my birthday. ENJOY! Titanic Exhibit

Last weekend we went with Courtney's Dad Spencer and his wife Felicia to the Titanic Exhibit downtown where we viewed a plethora of items pulled up from the famous shipwreck. It was very cool, and Hannah even enjoyed it (didn't scream at all!). Here are a few precious pics:

Easter Dress

As promised, and a few weeks late, here is little Hannah in her Easter dress. Also, at our 6 week checkup last week, Hannah weighed in at 10lbs and 10 ounces! She obviously is having no problem gaining weight.

We are certainly learning that caring for little Hannah is a FULL time job! Sorry that it has been so long since our last post, but we have had our hands full. :)

As of Friday, April 13th, Hannah is now 6 weeks old...and she is quickly getting a personality. As you can see below, she is often a happy little girl, and is beginning to smile when we play with her. Courtney and I are absolutely DELIGHTED!

Getting back to 'Normal'

Well, things are slowly but surely getting back to 'normal'. Courtney is up and moving around again, and Hannah even had her first bath. Here are a few pictures from the past week:

The "Weigh-In"

Less than an hour after Hannah came into this world, it was time for her 'inspection' by the Midwives, along with the weighing. Unfortunately, my video camera stopped working at this point, and all I had was a digital camera in hand. But, my digital camera has a short video feature on it, and I was able to capture the clip below. You will see Nichole, one of the Midwives, my sister, and Courtney who is on the bed.

Listen closely and you will hear us all guess her weight. Notice who guessed right (and no, it wasn't me)!

Hear Nichole say '8.6lbs'...and Courtney's response? "Are you kidding?!!" Ha, priceless!

By the way, this little experience and many more confirmed in our minds that the home-birth option was the best decision in the world. Who gets to witness things like this in the hospital? Notice especially how vibrant Courtney is with no drugs in her system.

The Birth Story

My Sister Tiffany has posted a FULL 'hour by hour' account of the birth story. It is well worth the read, so you can check that out here. This account will give you the details of the three day labor, and it will bless your heart as well in hearing how gracious the Lord has been. Courtney and I are also working on getting the whole birth story down on paper, and hopefully we can share that soon as well.

Courtney and I are doing great, and so is little Hannah. There has been such a steady stream of visitors tread through our house these last 8 days, and we are so thankful for all the love, support, prayers, as well as the dinners and flowers :) They are greatly appreciated, and it speaks volumes for how good and gracious the Lord has been in giving us such wonderful friends and family.

More pictures are coming soon, but I'll just leave this one for today. Check out the birth story I mentioned above! There are some pictures posted there as well. If you have a comment on the birth story, feel free to leave it here.

More Hannah Pics

On her new blog, my mother has posted some cute pictures of Hannah, as well as an email she sent out on Saturday morning that read:

"Well, so this is what life's all about? My mommy (Courtney) and daddy (Nathan) have been trying to tell me. Everyone just starring at me...making faces....googling and gurgling....people are a little strange! Okay, here's my story......after several days of major trauma on MY part, I was born just LAST NIGHT (3.2.07)...at 7:37 p.m. Well, they pushed me and poked me and even weighed me in front of the whole world! You know, a lady never tells her age or her weight, but they published it for everyone to see: EIGHT POUNDS, TWO OUNCES! And I guess they think I'm going to be a ballerina because I'm already 21 inches tall! (not that I can stand up yet).....And now my Grammy (Ann) has me in front of the computer camera first thing this morning! Well, at least she got me all dolled-up with my new hat and everything. I think I want my Anya (Teresa)!!!!"

Thankfully, my mom sent out this email and pictures well before we ever got a chance to do so. As you can imagine, we have our hands full right now, so we will get in touch with each one of you to tell the story just as soon as we can!

Hannah Grace White

Last night at 7:37pm, after 3 days of labor, the Lord brought Hannah Grace White into the world at 8lbs & 2 ounces. We are most certainly overcome with joy and gratitude! Courtney handled the tough labor amazingly well, and I am most thankful to God for such a wonderful wife. More pics to come soon! These will have to do until then:

Late...but not panicking!

Hannah is now 10 days overdue. However, after visiting the midwife today and looking back at our notes from the very first appointments, it was determined that there were some legitimate questions as to whether she was really due on Feb 17^th or one week later, Feb 24^th. Thus, we are not panicking, just waiting patiently! Please continue to pray; we are confident and take comfort in God’s sovereign rule over every single aspect of life. Another week or so and an ultrasound will be necessary to ensure that nothing is wrong, but we feel that she will come before then!

OK… Today is my official due date and still NO HANNAH!! I can’t even explain how miserable waiting is :) She is taking her sweet time! I guess she isn’t officially “late” yet but early would have been nice. I am receiving numerous calls and messages about “Where is Hannah?”… and the answer to all of them is the same… “Still in my belly!!”

I’ve posted some more pictures from these last few weeks of pregnancy so you can all see my few final weeks and how much bigger she has gotten!

Also 39 weeks. This was Valentines night...we went out for probably one of our last dinners alone :)

On Valentines Nathan took me to a little French restaurant and we sat by the warm fire...it was FREEZING outside!

Well...Courtney is due any day now. Feb 17th is her 'official' date, but the doctor says that she is pretty much ready right now, and that labor could start anytime. So, we have just about finished getting ready for little Hannah. The house is setup and ready for a homebirth (yes, my wife is brave), and Hannah's room is just about finished (pictures to come soon).

Today, however, we thought we'd share some photos from November 2006. Courtney was somewhere in the neighborhood of 25-30 weeks when we took a trip to the North GA mountains one Saturday afternoon.
